If you are on the path to exploring BDSM practices, you won’t do without whipping. Many people enjoy the feeling of heated skin and feelings while being submissive. Whipping ideally fits into punishment plots and rough sex scenarios. Here is an overview of some basic devices for flogging from a long distance (more than 0.5 meters) as well as a guide to action.
Getting ready
The basic tool for whipping is a flogger, i.e. a multi-tailed scourge. This is a universal tool, suitable for both soft and hardcore BDSM whipping.
Things to consider while choosing a flogger:
- Goals. Sex shop devices with silicone or metal tails are suitable for a party: they look spectacular, but they are not good for a real spanking. Silicone tails stretch significantly during the swing and make a hard-hitting, irritating whip. Due to its weight, a metal flogger can cut through the skin or leave bruises. Therefore, if you plan to use the device regularly for a direct purpose, take it seriously as you make the choice.
- Material. Experienced craftsmen prefer floggers made of genuine leather. This material is hard-wearing, soft, and light. Eco-friendly faux leather versions, as a rule, are stiffer and quickly lose their shape. You can also find floggers made of horsehair, which at first sight may seem harmless, but this is only in appearance: in reality, the hair causes tingling and itching of the skin.
- The handle of the flogger. A well-matched device lies securely in the palm of your hand so that you can put your thumb and your second finger together. Floggers with a narrow or wide grip will put a strain on the wrist and shoulder. We would advise choosing a device with a handle made of non-slip materials: leather, silicone, suede. Metal or satin handles are certainly attractive, but during whipping, they may fall out of your hands.
- Weight. The weight of a flogger is usually an indicator of its quality. A heavy flogger accelerates as you strike it and creates penetrating blows. Lighter devices warm up the skin surface, but they require more physical strength to flog “harder.”
- The number of tails. The more tails the flogger has, the bigger the area of contact with the skin. To warm up the skin, give preference to whips with 30 or more tails.
- Price. Good-quality floggers are expensive, but they also last longer. If you just want to try flogging, it is not worth investing in a flogger. You can use budget options or rentals.
The list of floggers is not limited to floggers alone. Depending on the force of the impact and the parts of the body to be whipped, there are:
- A multi-tail flogger. This device is more complicated than the flogger: as a rule, its tails are stiffer, and you have to calculate the forces of the blow more precisely.
- A cane, often made of bamboo. This toy is far from being harmless: the marks are thin and deep, and they take a long time to heal. Some enjoy bastinado — a blow with a cane on foot — for being precise and painful.
- Stack. Strictly speaking, a stack is not a tool for making blows. It is rather a discipline tool. Has your flogger fallen off? Use your stack to let your partner know that he should fetch it.
- Finally, a whip is the most unyielding and, perhaps, the most beautifully handled device. It wraps the body beautifully which is excellent for many adult BDSM-themed play. Due to its thickness and stiffness and the force of impact, which is acquired due to the size of the swing, it is the most traumatic of flogging devices. Also it’s the most public tool, meaning that you can only try it out in spacious rooms or open spaces as it has a very long swing length.
Scenario
What is important to remember in whipping:
- The three golden rules of any BDSM practice are safe, sane, consensual (SSC). All activities should take place by mutual consent; the parties involved shall be sober, and sexual activities shall not be cause physical or mental harm.
- Arousal. The pleasure of being spanked is greater when arousal is high. Foreplay can be different: you can lead the submissive on a leash, tie him up, slap their butts with your palm, and stretch them.
- The process. Start whipping with gentle movements, don’t slap hard at once: it will hurt a lot and the arousal has not been built yet. Then build up the speed and strength of the blow. Not to get tired before the time, use your body and shoulder to make a swing. Keep your legs bent, it will make your posture more stable. Flogging can last 10 minutes or more, depending on the stamina of a submissive. To complete flogging, slow down, reduce the intensity of blows and leave only light touches.
- Sexual aftercare. When you are done, hug and caress the submissive partner, let them take a breath, and calm down. You may feel dizziness and fatigue after your session. You can switch to your usual practices and relax.
